About Us
Principles and Objectives
Illusions Rhythmic Gymnastics' focus is on basic body awareness, technique
and hand/eye coordination. We have fun in a warm and friendly atmosphere
which is the recipe for a happy and healthy gymnast!
We are committed to the future of our sport at the ECMCC. Our mission is to
help our students prepare for life experience through gymnastics and dance
by building physically fit bodies and developing high self-esteem. Our goal
is to see each individual student reach their full potential. We believe in
creating positive attitudes, developing physical and mental skills, and
learning how to set and achieve goals. Whether you dream of competing in the
Olympics or you just want to have fun and stay in shape, Illusions has a
program for you.
Competitive Program
Gymnasts with previous movement experience are invited to join Illusions'
competitive program. This program is designed to enhance flexibility,
develop strength, speed and endurance, improve body technique and apparatus
handling and encourages originality and artistic expression. Gymnasts will
learn routines for competition as well as fun routines for shows and
demonstrations while building up and preparing for competitions.
Pre-competitive Program
We are offering a program for gymnasts who may wish to compete but need to
develop strength and flexibility. This pre-competitive class also teaches
body techniques and apparatus handling while encouraging gymnasts to stay in
the sport.
Performing Program
This program is the newest to be offered at our club and was specifically
designed for those gymnasts who are very experienced within the recreational
program and wish to dedicate more time to the sport. This team would have the
opportunity to perform at many events throughout Alberta. It promotes fitness,
focuses on expression, advanced apparatus handling and the art of entertaining
through dance.
Recreational Program
These are fun-filled classes where gymnasts are taught basic body technique
and apparatus handling. The recreational program emphasizes participation
and group interaction and recognizes the benefit of life long physical
activity. We promote overall fitness in a non-competitive environment and
encourage girls to perform to the best of their ability. They are rewarded
with a rainbow pin for achieving required skills in the Prism Program.
We also have a pre-school recreational program which is designed for 3 to 5
year-old boys and girls. This class consists of coordination skills and
exercises to inspire and create an enthusiastic introduction to rhythmic
gymnastic.

Ballet
Since ballet is such a huge part of rhythmic gymnastics it is mandatory
that all gymnast in the competitive program complete at least 1.5 hours a
week of ballet. It is strongly recommended to those in pre-competitive and
performing but is open to everyone.
